How do I calculate how much I need?
Check the bag label for coverage. New lawn uses more seed per square foot than overseeding. Measure your lawn first so you know how many bags you need. Use a Scotts spreader with label settings and walk at a steady pace for even coverage.
How long until I see new grass?
With proper watering, you should start to see the first green sprouts in about 7-12 days. Give it a few weeks, and your lawn will really start to fill in.
How often should I water to prevent washout?
Water the newly seeded area every day for at least 3 weeks to keep the soil surface moist. This is the most important step for success. An automatic timer can be a real gamechanger here, making sure you don't miss a watering.
How do I prepare my lawn before seeding?
For new lawns: rake and loosen the top couple inches of soil. For overseeding: mow lawn short (about 2 inches), then rake to loosen soil. After spreading seed, lightly rake it into the top layer soil.
What if my PatchMaster arrives clumped or hard?
Break up any clumps before use--it won't affect performance. Just work the product with your hands, gently shake the bag to mix the contents, then apply as directed. The product is still ready to grow with proper watering.
