Why Sustainable Seed Company?
Organic Spring Rapeseed Canola (Brassica napus) is a cool-season, multi-purpose biennial grown for sprouts, microgreens, greens, vegetable oil, forage, and cover cropping. Matures in 74?140 days. Grows upright 3?5 feet tall with a deep taproot to improve soil structure and reduce compaction. Plant in full sun, 1 inch deep in moist, well-drained soil. Suitable for Zones 4?8. Mild, kale-like flavor in greens; oilseed pods form late in the season. Use as green manure before new crops. ~13,400 seeds per ounce. Ideal for soil-building, crop rotation, and cool-weather edible greens.
Share the tradition and responsibility of sustainable gardening with future generations. We believe gardening is more than just nurturing plants, but it is about nurturing ourselves, family, and community.
John Fendley (“Farmer John”) founded Sustainable Seed Company in 2008 due to his concern that many varieties of fruits and vegetables he remembered from childhood were no longer propagated. John followed his dream and set out to protect and share rare heirloom seeds with the world and, ever since, has been a prominent distributor of exclusive, unique varieties of seeds including fruits, vegetables, and herbs.
