Can I use fertilizer spikes in the summer?

Can fertilizer spikes go bad?

Can you use plant food spikes on outdoor plants?

To use, thoroughly water soil until sufficiently softened around tree or shrub drip line, as illustrated on product label.

Use the chart on the label to determine the correct number of spikes to use and place spikes around drip line of plant at least 3 feet apart.

Drive spike by stepping on or using a rubber mallet into the ground until the entire spike is below the surface of the soil.

Apply plant food spikes once in early Spring and once in mid-Fall when the ground is soft and moist for lush foliage and palms, and greater fruit production vs. unfed plants. Apply only as directed.

Can I use fertilizer spikes in the summer?

Our plant food spikes should be applied in the early spring and mid-fall for optimal results. Use Miracle-Gro Shake 'N Feed Flowering Trees and Shrubs Plant Food if your tree is struggling in the summer (apply every 3 months during growing season).

Can fertilizer spikes go bad?

The fresher, the better, but you can store leftover spikes for the next feeding season. Seal in a plastic bag and store in a dry place. Don't toss the label?keep it to reference next time your trees need a nutrition boost.

Can you use plant food spikes on outdoor plants?

If your "outdoor plant" is a tree or shrub, then absolutely! We also recommend our Tree & Shrub Plant Food Spikes for acid-loving plants. Our Shake 'N Feed Granular Plant Foods or Water Soluble Plant Foods are good for smaller container plants.
