Repeat if needed. - GopherHawk performs best when set in a “habitat tunnel,” near a fresh mound. Probe 6 ? 10 inches away from the mound, ideally between two mounds. Confirm that the base of the tunnel is reached. After setting the trap, block light with soil. Note that moles have two tunnel systems, their shallow grubbing run and their deeper habitat tunnel ? the trap can be set in the mound, the habitat tunnel or the upper grubbing run. Stand the trap upright on a table and pull down on the black tube until it locks into place. NEVER touch the straps or trigger. Gently insert the set trap into the hole. Do not shove or jam the trap. Push dirt back around the trap to block light; for sandy soil use leaves or a towel. - If Trap Won’t Set: Strike the black tube firmly against something solid (not metal/cement) a few times. Then set as normal. Repeat if needed.
